Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone who visited us this weekend, whether it was to sit and have a beer or gin with us, or continue to take beer home with them, you were all absolutely wonderful (well, except one, but he didn’t get much further than the front door!).

Special thanks to those who came in for takeout and saw what we’d done with the place to keep everyone safe, and decide to stay for a drink. And thanks to everyone for all the kind comments, in person and on social media, telling us how happy you are with our covid safety – you’ve absolutely vindicated our decision to delay opening til the 10th to get things right despite losing a week’s trading income. It wasn’t an easy decision but we knew it was the right one.

If you’re a bit unsure about coming back to the pub, you’re absolutely welcome to call in and take a look around and ask questions. There’s absolutely no judgement from us, everyone has different circumstances and risk. We’ll be doing our draught and can/bottles takeouts for a long time to come so there’s no rush.

Not surprisingly, it’s not as busy as we’d like and turning people away on Friday night when the pub isn’t busy was heartbreaking, something we’ve never had to do in over 25 years of being in this business. Obviously we’re anxious about the future, but we’re confident we can stay around for a little while longer at this rate and if we can get into next year and still be trading, we’ll be great.
